European Semester 2015: the Roma perspective

25 November 2015

ERGO Network had already expressed its concerns about the decrease of attention towards the situation of Roma in the Country Specific Recommendations in a press release in May after the publication of the CSRs.

The analysis conducted presents a situation where the European Commission depicts mostly quite well the situation of Roma in their Staff Working Documents but then the national governments fail to effectively respond to those challenges with appropriate measures, inclusive reforms and an integrated approach.

ERGO Network strongly hopes that the relevant institutions will take into consideration the identified weaknesses and possible improvements highlighted in the policy papers and the attention and responsiveness to the situation of Roma will improve in the next cycle of the European Semester.
