International Day Against Racism: call against anti-Gypsyism

21 March 2013

In the occasion of the International Day Against Racism, ERGO Network would like to express its deep concern about the structural racism and anti-Gypsyism that is prevailing in all levels of society the society, -in particular at the level of EU institutions. The situation of Roma worsened in the past years and yet  Romapeople and Roma experts are ingored during the process of formulation of policies targeting the Roma.

ERGO Network  has called the European Commission to establish basic minimum standards for work and cooperation with Roma Civil Society to improve Roma policies and programmes. Also we called for a targeted budget line for independent Roma watch-dog and grassroots organisations.

More on this can be found on the online petition URGENT CALL TO STOP THE DECLINE OF ROMA CIVIL SOCIETY that already gathered over 400 signatures, including those of Members of the European Parliament and is available at: The petition marks the launch of the advocacy campaign "Exclusion of Roma in Europe, do you know, do you care?"
